Hiking the Alps

So one day during opening tour, which I simply can't blog about fully. We visited so many places and did so much all without internet, so I'm lagging in the blogging about opening tour department. However, one of our last destinations, this sleepy town in Bulvaria, Germany, was called Bad Kohlgrub. There was pretty much nothing to do, particularly at night, except for one pub which we wiped out clean...literally, no beer/vodka left between all the Gonzaga-in-Florence kids. One day we opted to hike the alps. Monzie and I voted to do the "medium" which they called "fitness" hike. The easy level was a gondola ride to the top and a walk down, and the "difficult or sport" hike was supposed to be extreme. So we went for the baby bear option, medium, just right. WRONG. Monzie and I quickly learned that our definition of the word, medium hike, was far different than that of our hiking guide, Johannes. With a 4 hour hike, consisting of entire, steep incline, we made it to the top of two mountains.

The view was incredible. It was so rewarding, and not to mention, deathly. The next day, Monzie and I could barely walk. (Sidenote: Monzie and I did not bring any water, and had not eaten lunch, which only made the hike more difficult, which it did NOT need to be)We loved Johannes though, even though he clearly needs a few clarifications on German-to-English translations. He was 18 and only spoke "shit english" which was fine with Monzie and I; we were more interested in looking at him and giggling, in attempts to not call it quits. I would do it all over again though, soreness and all.
